Bucharest 6 Day Itinerary (No Day Trips)
Six days in Bucharest, prices in lei not euros, covers all 9 things worth doing in the city itself and still leaves a genuine flex day. This extends the 5 day route with a Day 6 built around Cotroceni and the northern embassy district; go to 7 days if you want a second free day before departure. Day 1: Old Town and Revolution Square
Express Bus 100 from Henri Coanda, roughly 3 RON, 40 to 50 minutes to Piata Unirii; the unmarked taxis right outside arrivals overcharge, so take Bolt or book through the terminal’s official yellow kiosks instead. Settle into an Old Town hotel, then Revolution Square and the Romanian Athenaeum (15 RON cash, walk-in). Dinner at Caru’ cu Bere, evening on Strada Lipscani.
Day 2: The Palace of Parliament and Calea Victoriei
Book ahead or skip it (full rules ): phone +40 733 558 102/103, weekdays 9:00 to 16:00, 24+ hours out, original passport required at the door. Standard tour roughly 60 RON adult, 30 RON student, 20 RON child, plus a 10 RON basement add-on. Afternoon on Calea Victoriei for the “Little Paris” architecture.
Day 3: The Village Museum and King Michael I Park
Morning at the Village Museum , 40 RON adult, half off Monday and Tuesday, real relocated wooden houses and churches. Afternoon around the lake in King Michael I Park.
Day 4: The National Museum of Art and Obor Market
Morning at the National Museum of Art of Romania, 24 RON per gallery or 32 RON combined, free the first Wednesday of the month. Afternoon at Obor Market for mici at half the Old Town price, a full meal with a couple of beers rarely tops 40 RON.
Day 5: Therme Bucuresti
A full day at Therme , roughly 130 to 150 RON for the Galaxy zone on weekdays, more on weekends. Budget the entire day; it’s genuinely out of town, not a quick add-on.
Day 6: Cotroceni and the flex day
Cotroceni, the leafy district around the President’s official residence, is quieter and more local than anywhere else on this list, worth a slow morning walk if the last five days have been Old Town crowds and museum queues. Use the afternoon as an actual flex day: revisit whichever neighborhood surprised you most, or go back to the Village Museum’s half-price Monday/Tuesday window if your dates lined up. Skip trying to bolt on a Snagov Monastery visit here; the grave the monastery is famous for turned up animal bones, not Vlad the Impaler’s remains, when it was excavated in the 1930s, so it’s not worth the half day this trip doesn’t really have spare anyway.

If you do want a castle day trip worked in, swap it for Day 6 rather than Day 5, Peles and Bran both start early and a spa day the night before makes for a rough 6am train.
