Walking Tours in Miami: Deco and Calle Ocho
Miami is spread out, but four districts reward walking: South Beach’s Art Deco streets, Little Havana’s Calle Ocho, Wynwood’s mural blocks and the Downtown waterfront. You can walk each of them on your own, or join a guided tour. All prices are in US dollars.
Art Deco on South Beach
The Miami-Dade Public Library System runs the Art Deco Walking Tour from its Welcome Center at 1001 Ocean Drive, which is open daily 9 am to 5 pm. The tour is offered daily, covers about 1.5 miles and lasts roughly 2 hours. Tickets are $50 for adults aged 18 to 64, $40 for seniors 65 and over and $35 for youth 13 to 17, and children 12 and under are free. Library members go free. Choose a time on the library’s booking page .
If you eat on Ocean Drive afterward, ask for prices before you order and read the itemized check. Miami Beach requires menus to show prices and a disclosure of automatic gratuities, and some visitors end up tipping twice.
Little Havana and Calle Ocho
Calle Ocho is SW 8th Street. A good walking stretch runs between about 11th and 17th Avenues. Stops along it include the El Titan de Bronze cigar factory (SW 8th St and 11th Ave), Domino Park and the Cuban Memorial. Ball & Chain (1513 SW 8th St) is a music bar, and live-music nights are listed there, so check its schedule for the evening you plan to go.
Versailles, the Cuban restaurant at 3555 SW 8th St, is about 1.5 miles west of the Domino Park stretch. Treat it as a separate stop and take a taxi or ride-share.
For a guided option, Miami Culinary Tours runs a Little Havana Food and Cultural Tour for $69.99 over 2.5 hours. It visits a cigar factory, Domino Park, Callejon del Gallo and the Cuban Memorial, and its listing gives the Tower Theater on SW 8th St as the start point. See the Miami Culinary Tours site .
The Calle Ocho Festival is a free street festival held once a year in March, so check the official date for your trip.
Wynwood
Wynwood Walls (2516 NW 2nd Ave) costs $12 for adults and is open daily 10:30 am to 6:30 pm. Murals on the surrounding streets are free to view. Miami Culinary Tours lists a Wynwood Food and Street Art tour at $89.99. Details are on the Wynwood Walls admissions page .
Downtown and the waterfront
Downtown’s cultural stretch runs along Biscayne Boulevard. The Freedom Tower (600 Biscayne Blvd) reopened in September 2025. Frost Science, the PĂ©rez Art Museum Miami (PAMM) and the Arsht Center are nearby, and the free Metromover has a Museum Park station. PAMM is closed on Tuesday and Wednesday.
The Underline
The Underline is a walking and cycling path under the Metrorail line, with about 5 continuous miles open from Brickell toward Dadeland. Construction on the rest of the 10-mile corridor continues, per the Miami-Dade Underline page .
Walking safely in Miami’s climate
- Miami is hot and humid for much of the year, so walk in the morning and carry water.
- Hurricane season runs 1 June to 30 November.
- King tides can flood low streets on sunny days for about 3 hours around high tide. The City of Miami king tide page lists the 2026 peaks, including 24 to 30 October and 6 to 9 November. Do not wade through flooded streets.
- Metrorail costs $2.25 per trip and takes tap-to-pay at the gates, and Metromover is free.
Beyond the library tour, guided walks can be found through Little Havana food tour listings and Wynwood street art tours .
