Miami Sightseeing: Deco, Vizcaya, Museums
Miami’s main sights fall into a few clusters: Art Deco on South Beach, the museums along Biscayne Boulevard, Wynwood’s murals and Vizcaya in Coconut Grove. This page lists each with admission, opening days and the transit options. All prices are in US dollars.
Art Deco Historic District, South Beach
The district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979. Tourism sites cite about 800 historic buildings between roughly 5th and 23rd Streets, along Ocean Drive, Collins Avenue and Washington Avenue. The Miami-Dade Public Library System runs a Welcome Center at 1001 Ocean Drive, open daily 9 am to 5 pm. Its guided Art Deco Walking Tour takes about 2 hours and costs $50 for adults. See the library’s tour page for times.
Vizcaya Museum and Gardens
James Deering’s bayfront estate at 3251 S Miami Ave is open daily except Tuesday, 9:30 am to 4:30 pm. Adults pay $20 under a temporary restoration reduction, with a regular price of $32, and children 6 to 12 pay $10. Outside food, drink, coolers and pets are not allowed, and there is no bag check, so travel light. See the Vizcaya planning page .
Downtown museums and the Freedom Tower
Frost Science (1101 Biscayne Blvd) is open every day, and the Explorer Ticket starts at $29.95 for adults. It has a 500,000-gallon aquarium viewed through a 31-foot oculus. The Pérez Art Museum Miami (PAMM, 1103 Biscayne Blvd) charges $18, and it is closed Tuesday and Wednesday. It stays open until 9 pm on Thursdays, and Thursday after 5 pm is free. It is also free all day on the second Saturday of each month. See the PAMM visit page .
The Freedom Tower at 600 Biscayne Blvd reopened on 16 September 2025 after restoration in its centennial year. It includes a “Libertad” exhibit about its years as the Cuban Refugee Assistance Center and is run with Miami Dade College’s MOAD. Hours were listed as Wednesday to Sunday, 10 am to 6 pm, so check before you go.
Wynwood Walls
Wynwood Walls (2516 NW 2nd Ave) is a paid mural garden: adults 18 and over $12, seniors 65 and over $10, youth 13 to 17 $5, and children 12 and under free. It is open daily 10:30 am to 6:30 pm, with doors closing 30 minutes earlier. The murals on the surrounding streets are free to view. See the Wynwood Walls admissions page .
Cape Florida Light, Key Biscayne
The 1825 lighthouse at Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park has 109 spiral steps, and visitors must be at least 42 inches tall to climb. Tours run Thursday to Monday, and the posted start times differ between listings, so confirm before you drive over. Park entry is $8 per vehicle. The Rickenbacker Causeway toll is $3.25 with SunPass or $6.50 by Toll-by-Plate, and it is electronic only, with no cash.
