Tashkent With Children
Tashkent works well for families with a mix of indoor and outdoor stops. Wide pedestrian boulevards, a cool metro and a few big attractions make it easy to plan around heat and tired legs. Uzbek som (UZS) is the currency, and card payments are common in hotels and malls but not at bazaar stalls.
Tashkent Zoo
Tashkent Zoo is in the Yunusabad district on Bogishamol Street and is open every day. Ticket offices work from 08:00 to 17:00. In a December 2025 notice, tickets were 40,000 UZS for visitors aged 16 and over and 25,000 UZS for ages 7 to 16, with under 7s free. Holiday-period prices may differ, so expect around 40,000 UZS for an adult. Treat it as a walk to see animals only; avoid any offer of rides, feeding or photographs with animals.
Magic City
Magic City park on Babur Street is free to enter, with rides and the Magic Aquarium priced separately. A 2022 report put aquarium entry at 100,000 UZS, and a combined ticket has been quoted at about 190,000 UZS, so check current prices at the gate. Hours are roughly 10:00 to 22:00. It is busy at weekends and in the evening.
The metro
Children often enjoy the metro as much as any attraction. Kosmonavtlar station is themed around space exploration, and the chandeliers at Alisher Navoiy and Mustaqillik Maydoni are a good stop. Photography is allowed. A ride costs 2,500 UZS by bank or ATTO card and 3,000 UZS in cash.
Chorsu Bazaar
The blue-domed bazaar is a lively morning outing: bread, dried fruit and spices are all on show. Hold small hands in the crowds and carry cash.
Mountain rides
Beldersay cable car at Chimgan and the gondolas at Amirsoy give children a ride with a view, weather permitting. Allow 1.5 to 2 hours each way from the city. The Beldersay cable car does not always run on weekdays. At Charvak reservoir keep children in shallow water close to shore, because lifeguard cover is not guaranteed.
The Sun Heliocomplex
Older children may like the Big Solar Furnace at Parkent, about 45 km away. Visits go through operators and include a staircase climb to the observation deck, so it suits fit families and takes most of a day with travel.
Practical tips
Summers are hot and dry. Plan outdoor stops early or late, and use the metro or a museum at midday. Carry water. Hotels register foreign guests, so keep the registration slip with your passport. For tours, compare options on GetYourGuide and see the official tourism portal .
