Romantic Stays in Sharm el-Sheikh
Sharm el-Sheikh is a mass-market beach and all-inclusive resort destination, so a romantic break here means resort romance with a reef or desert outing added on. There is no boutique old quarter to wander. What the town does well is warm sea, easy flights and good hotels. The UK Foreign Office calls the Red Sea resorts of southern Sinai generally low risk as of October 2026, and you can read its advice for Egypt before you travel.
Resorts for dinners and spa days
Three well-known resorts are open for couples planning a longer stay. Four Seasons Resort Sharm El Sheikh is in Sharks Bay in the north. Steigenberger Alcazar is in Nabq Bay and opened in 2017. Monte Carlo Sharm Resort and Spa sits at Om El Seed and was the Ritz-Carlton until it was renamed in 2014. Rooms, rates and dining options differ, so compare stays on Booking.com , and pick the bay by what you want nearby. Sharks Bay and Nabq Bay are closer to the airport, while Naama Bay has the promenade, cafes and dive centres.
A sunset boat trip
Licensed boats leave from Naama Bay and the marinas, and a sunset cruise is the simplest way to see the coast from the water. Ask how long the trip lasts, whether drinks are included and whether it carries a safety briefing. Agree the price in writing in euros, dollars or EGP before you sail.
A Bedouin camp dinner
Desert safaris often end with Bedouin tea, dinner and a clear view of the stars away from the resort lights. Many are sold as quad-and-dinner combinations. Quad accidents have been reported, so if you want the evening without the ride, ask for the dinner-only option from a licensed operator.
A private reef day
A couples snorkel or an introductory dive with a licensed centre is a gentle way to share the reef. Camel Dive Club, Sinai Divers, Emperor Divers, Ocean College and Red Sea Diving College are among the centres named in the Wikivoyage guide . For a special day, take a boat to Ras Mohammed National Park or the reefs of the Strait of Tiran. Tiran belongs to Saudi Arabia, so boats do not land on the island. Do not touch or stand on coral, and never feed fish, which is illegal.
Practical tips
Sharks are rare but real, so heed lifeguard flags and stay out of the water at dawn and dusk. Tap water is not drinkable. Taxis have no meters, so agree the fare first. Women travelling alone should take care at night and in taxis, as the FCDO advises. The free entry stamp at Sharm airport covers stays under 15 days within the resort area, and a visa on arrival costs 30 US dollars in cash. The pound runs at about 48 to 50 EGP to the dollar.
