Phuket With Kids: Family Activities
Water parks
Andamanda Phuket in Kathu is the island’s big water park, about 30 minutes from Patong. The official site describes about 100,000 square metres, five themed zones, 25 attractions with 36 lanes, and 12 extreme slides. The Rolling Ripples lazy river is 550 m long and billed as the longest in Asia, and the wave pool covers 10,000 square metres. Prices are not on the official page. An aggregator lists adults over 122 cm at about 1,800 THB at the gate or 1,600 THB online, children from 91 to 121 cm and seniors at about 1,200 THB or 1,100 THB online, and free entry up to 90 cm. Reported hours are 10:00 to 18:00 in the Park Zone and 10:00 to 19:00 in Emerald Forest. Check the Andamanda site before you go.
Splash Jungle in Mai Khao was closed from 1 June to 30 September 2026 for works, with reopening scheduled for 1 October. Aggregators list adults at about 1,000 to 1,050 THB and children at about 700 to 750 THB. Confirm it is open before you drive out.
Animals and marine life
Phuket Aquarium at Cape Panwa is run by the Phuket Marine Biological Center, at 51 Sakdidej Road. It has a shark tunnel with blacktip and nurse sharks, reef displays, ray pools, a touch pool and a turtle rehabilitation area. Opening hours are about 08:30 to 16:30. Reports of the foreign adult price differ, from about 180 to 300 THB, and children pay about 100 to 150 THB, so check at the gate.
Soi Dog Foundation in Mai Khao is free and suits children who like animals. Tours run Monday to Friday only, at 10:30 and 13:30, and no booking is needed. The centre is closed on Saturday and Sunday. Cats are met in the cattery after the tour, and donations are welcome. See the visit page .
Phuket Elephant Sanctuary is observation only, with no riding, bathing or feeding, so children watch the elephants from the canopy walkway. Adult tickets for ages 13 and over start at 3,000 THB, and no child price is published, so ask the sanctuary directly. Avoid any venue that offers elephant rides, tiger selfies or animal shows.
Parks and open air
Sirinat National Park covers Mai Khao and Nai Yang beaches. Entry is about 200 THB for adults and 100 THB for children. The Mai Khao stretch runs about 9 to 10 km beside the airport, so planes passing low overhead are a draw for children. Turtle nesting is rare, so do not promise turtles. The park listing has the fees.
Bang Pae waterfall in Khao Phra Thaeo is a level walk of 10 to 15 minutes to a pool, with entry of about 200 THB for adults and 100 THB for children. Check the Gibbon Rehabilitation Project’s entry rules by the trailhead.
Beach days with children
Calm swimming on the west coast is a dry-season idea, roughly November to April. Even then, every beach carries the same rule. Rip currents are a risk on west-coast beaches in the May to October monsoon, and foreign visitors drown every season. Swim only between the red-and-yellow flags where lifeguards are posted, and treat a red flag as a day for sandcastles, not swimming. Some beaches have no flags or lifeguards. Keep children within arm’s reach in the water. Rainy-season dengue and flash flooding apply, and tap water is not drinkable, so carry bottled water.
