Phuket Attraction Tours and Shows
Phang Nga Bay by sea canoe
John Gray’s SeaCanoe offers the Hong by Starlight programme in Phang Nga Bay, listed from 3,950 THB. The price covers hotel transfer, the national park fee, a light lunch and dinner, guides, a paddle into the hongs and a visit to James Bond Island. The operator also mentions bioluminescence on the paddle, which it cannot guarantee. The office is at Ao Por in Thalang, and the departure time and pier are not published, so ask when you book. Child prices are not listed, and longer expeditions start from much higher prices. Details are on the operator’s site .
At James Bond Island, boats land on Khao Phing Kan. The needle rock, Ko Tapu, stands offshore and boats have been kept away from it since 1998. The island is busiest from about 10:00 to 14:00, so an evening or early programme feels calmer. Tours run in the sheltered bay through the monsoon, with cancellations on rough days. Ask your operator about conditions between May and October.
A rum distillery tour
Chalong Bay Rum runs distillery tours daily at 13:00, 15:00 or 17:00, ending with a mojito. The distillery is at 14/2 Moo 2, Soi Palai 2, Chalong, and the bar and restaurant stay open until the late evening. Prices are not on the pages, so check with the distillery and book ahead through chalongbayrum.com .
A cabaret evening in Patong
Simon Cabaret is on Sirirat Road in Patong, with shows daily at 18:00, 19:30 and 21:00. Resellers list standard seats at about US$25 and VIP seats at about US$32, so treat those as a rough guide and compare with the theatre’s own page at simoncabaretphuket.com . Use that exact address. Other sites with similar names are fake, and one redirects to an unrelated gambling page. Resellers say cameras are not allowed inside the theatre.
A cooking class in the Old Town
The Blue Elephant cooking school sits in the heritage Governor’s Mansion on Krabi Road. Half-day classes start with a market visit in the morning, and the mansion’s restaurant is listed by the Michelin Guide, as noted in the Michelin Old Town article . Hours are soft, so confirm the class time with the school before you go.
What to skip
Phuket FantaSea in Kamala stages a show with live elephants and other animals, and it only runs a few nights a week. If animal welfare matters to you, choose Simon Cabaret or another evening instead. Bus tours that include stops at gem and cashew outlets spend much of the day shopping, so ask the operator for the full stop list. Some operators sell elephant rides and bathing shows, which are best avoided.
For a calm evening that needs no ticket, the Old Town on Sundays has a walking street on Thalang Road from about 16:00 to 22:00.
