Family Days Out in Sofia
Sofia’s family options cluster around three sites, all reachable by metro or a short bus ride, with a leafy park attached to two of them for the moments when the kids need to run rather than look.
Muzeiko
Bulgaria’s children’s science center, at ul. Prof. Boyan Kamenov 3 near Metro G.M. Dimitrov, spreads over three floors and 130-plus hands-on exhibits grouped into the past, the present and the future: archaeology and geology, nature and cities, then space and robotics. Admission runs roughly €6-9 per ticket, with a planetarium add-on at about €1.00 and free entry for children under 2. There is a cafe, lockers and stroller parking on site. Sofia Zoo
Founded in 1888 at ul. Srebarna 1 in the Hladilnika district, Sofia Zoo is the oldest and largest on the Balkan Peninsula, covering 235,000 square meters and holding over 2,000 animals, from brown bears and elephants to European bison. It has an indoor freshwater aquarium and terrarium hall, but no marine sharks or coral-reef tanks; those exist only at the coastal aquariums in Varna and Burgas. Adult admission is about €5 following a 2026 price increase, the zoo’s first in over a decade. Hours run 09:00-17:00 in winter and 09:00-19:00 in summer; confirm both at zoosofia.eu .
Kokolandia ropes park
Set in a forested corner of Borisova Gradina near Nezabravka Street, Kokolandia runs tree-top ropes courses and zip lines graded by age and height, from toddler tracks to advanced teenage circuits. South Park

Pair Muzeiko with South Park for a rainy-then-sunny day, and save the zoo for a morning on its own since 235,000 square meters takes longer to cover than it looks on a map.
