Bruges Attraction Tours: Boats and Carriages
Tours that run in Bruges
Bruges has a small set of established tours, and most of them start within a few minutes of the Markt. They cover the same core streets from different angles, so choosing one or two is enough. Prices below are the 2026 figures, and seasonal times are given as general patterns, so check the operator before you go.
Canal boat
The 30-minute canal tour is the best-known option. Skippers narrate a fixed route between Jan van Eyckplein and the Begijnhof in open boats. An adult ticket costs EUR 15, children aged 4 to 11 pay EUR 9, and under 4s go free. There are five landing stages: Katelijnestraat, Nieuwstraat, Wollestraat, Rozenhoedkaai and Huidenvettersplein. Tickets are sold at the stage, and you cannot reserve in advance. From March to October boats run daily from 10:00 to 18:00, and in winter at least one stage runs on rotation. Boats do not leave from the Markt or from ’t Zand, and there are no evening cruises.
Horse-drawn carriage
A carriage ride costs EUR 70 per carriage for up to five people, so it works out cheaper per head with a full group. The ride lasts about 30 minutes, with a fixed rest stop at Wijngaardplein near the Begijnhof, and it ends at the Markt. Carriages board on the western side of the Markt near Sint-Amandsstraat, and on Wednesday mornings during the market they board on the Burg. They run daily all year from about 09:00 until late evening, and no rides take place on days above 30 degrees. The Visit Bruges carriage page has the current details.
City Tour minibus
City Tour Brugge runs a 50-minute narrated loop in a minibus, with headsets in 16 languages. An adult ticket costs EUR 25, children aged 6 to 11 pay EUR 20, and under 6s are free. Tickets are sold on board, and the minibus leaves from the Markt near the Provinciaal Hof. The roof and windows fold down in good weather, and the schedule is reduced in winter, with the last departure at about 16:00 from November to January. It is a non-stop loop, so you cannot hop on and off. Bruges has no hop-on hop-off bus. See the Visit Bruges minibus page .
Guided walk with a boat ride
City Tours Belgium offers a guided walk combined with a boat ride. It lasts about 2.5 hours, costs EUR 40 for adults and includes a praline. It runs by appointment in Dutch, French, German or English. The tour page on Visit Bruges lists how to arrange it.
Brewery, chocolate and immersive visits
The De Halve Maan classic brewery tour takes about 45 minutes for up to 25 people and costs EUR 16 with one beer. The Choco-Story museum at Wijnzakstraat 2 is open daily from 10:00 to 18:00 and covers 5,500 years of cacao history. Historium, at Markt 1, is an immersive experience set in 1435, with optional VR and a tower. Check historium.be for its prices. The Bruges Beer Experience on Breidelstraat 3 has 16 draught beers.
Passes and tickets
The Musea Brugge Card covers the museums but not the tours above. It costs EUR 49 and is valid for 72 hours. No Bruges city card includes free transport or boat discounts, so budget for each tour separately.
