Brisbane Attractions and Guided Tours
Brisbane attractions that run as tours
Most of Brisbane’s headline attractions work best with a booking or a set departure. This page covers the ones that do, with the details to check first. Prices are in Australian dollars.
Story Bridge Adventure Climb
The climb starts at 5 Boundary Street, Howard Smith Wharves, under the Crystalbrook Vincent hotel, and the summit is about 80 metres up. The operator’s minimum age is 8 and children need to be over 110 cm, although resellers quote other ages, so confirm on the Story Bridge Adventure Climb site . Day climbs start from about $150 for adults, with occasional promotions below that. Twilight and night climbs cost more.
The bridge closes to vehicles from 1 am on Sunday 27 December 2026 until about 18 January 2027 for resurfacing, and the eastern footpath stays open to walkers. Whether the climb runs during that closure is not confirmed, so ask the operator if your dates overlap. Council details are on the Story Bridge restoration page .
Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary
Lone Pine is at 708 Jesmond Road, Fig Tree Pocket, open daily 9:00 to 17:00, with an adult day pass at $63. Since 1 July 2024 the sanctuary has stopped letting visitors hold koalas, which was its own decision. Instead it sells add-on encounters: Koala Moment from about $35 to $39 and Koala Close Up from $39, both on top of the day pass. You can still hand-feed kangaroos and wallabies. Ticket and encounter details are on the sanctuary’s site .
By public transport, the sanctuary’s own page lists route 430 from Ann Street and route 445 from Wickham Terrace. Bus numbers changed in June 2025, so confirm in the TransLink journey planner, and note that CityCats do not go there.
Mirimar Koala and River Cruise
The Mirimar runs from the Cultural Centre Pontoon on the Southbank Boardwalk. Check-in is at 8:45 and it departs at 9:00, leaves Lone Pine at 13:30 and is back at South Bank at 14:45. The adult fare is $138, child $80 and senior $126, with Lone Pine entry included. Details sit on the Australian Cruise Group page . Commercial boats like this one are not covered by the 50 cent TransLink fare.
City Hall Clock Tower Tour
The tour is free, but booking is essential through Brisbane City Council’s online events pages, with one ticket per person including children. Meet at the Museum of Brisbane on Level 3 of City Hall, 64 Adelaide Street. Tours leave roughly every 15 minutes, and the ride up in the cage lift ends with views of the clock faces. See the Council event page .
St Helena Island
St Helena Island National Park was a high-security convict prison from 1867 to 1932, and the visit has a sober tone. Guided tours cross from Moreton Bay departure points in about 45 minutes, and Queensland Parks lists Brisbane Cruises as the guided-tour operator. One operator price was about $89 adult with lunch and $65 without, so confirm before you go. See the Queensland Parks listing for current details.
