Romantic Escapes in Ha Long Bay
Ha Long has few products made only for couples, so a romantic stay here is built from a handful of real options: a night on a cruise with a balcony cabin, a sunset ride on the Queen Cable Car, a soak at the Yoko Onsen hot springs and a quiet overnight in Bai Tu Long or Lan Ha. This page is short on named luxury operators because few could be confirmed, and it says plainly where you need to ask. Prices are in Vietnamese dong (VND), at roughly 26,000 per US dollar.
An overnight cruise with a balcony
A night aboard is the most romantic thing the bay offers, because the day boats leave and the karst towers glow at dusk. Many boats sell cabins with a private balcony. Operators vary and prices are set per boat, so request a written quote. Ask for the boat’s registration and safety certificate, check whether the hull is steel or wood, and choose October to April for the clearest skies. The UK Foreign Office advises you to consider safety standards carefully before an overnight boat trip (FCDO advice ).
Overnight sightseeing fees are 500,000 to 550,000 VND for 24 hours, depending on the route. They are normally part of the cruise price.
Sunset above the strait
Take the Queen Cable Car from Bai Chay to Ba Deo hill late in the day, when the light is warm, and stay for the Sun Wheel and the evening view back over the strait. The round trip costs about 380,000 VND per adult. On weekdays the car opens at 14:00 and closes at 20:00, and at weekends it opens at 09:00. See sunworld.vn for current prices and hours.
Hot spring baths
Yoko Onsen Quang Hanh is a Japanese style hot spring resort in Cam Pha, east of Ha Long city. It offers a private onsen option as well as public sessions, which run 09:00 to 13:00 and 14:00 to 18:00. Rates change with the package, so confirm on the official site .
A quieter bay
Bai Tu Long and Lan Ha are calmer than the main bay. Overnight cruises from Ha Long into Lan Ha started on 20 April 2026, and Lan Ha charges about 120,000 VND for an adult. Bai Tu Long routes leave from Ao Tien port in Van Don.
What is not available
Seaplane flights over the bay ended on 1 April 2026, and helicopter sightseeing is suspended, so there is no scenic flight to book. Soi Sim beach is closed to visitors. January and February can bring fog and drizzle at 12 to 15 degrees Celsius, which makes the bay moody but poor for swimming. Storm season runs from May to November, and typhoon warnings can cancel a sailing at short notice.
