The deep cavern route at Trang An
Trang An runs three fixed sampan routes, and Route 1 is the one adventure travelers usually mean when they say Trang An: nine distinct flooded caves, including the 250-meter Hang Nau Ruou (Wine Brewing Cave), navigated with experienced local boatwomen. Route 3, less commonly booked, runs through the 1,000-meter Dot Cave instead. Both sit under the same UNESCO-listed Landscape Complex ticket, one combined entrance-plus-boat charge around 300,000 VND per adult, boats seating up to four passengers plus the rower, open 7am to 5pm. Primary forest at Cuc Phuong

Wetland safari at Van Long
Van Long Nature Reserve , 20 kilometers north, trades limestone for open water, exploring the reed beds of the so-called “Bay Without Waves” in small two-person bamboo rafts, scanning the cliffs of Mount Meo Cao for wild Delacour’s langurs. It is quieter and slower-paced than a cavern route, closer to a wildlife safari than a physical challenge, and the reserve asks visitors to stay quiet on the water so as not to spook the langurs off the cliff faces before the boats pass.
Rock climbing on the karst
Bolted limestone routes near Tam Coc and the Mua Caves area, ranging roughly from grade 5a to 7b, are climbed with certified local outfitters against a genuine valley backdrop. This is the one adventure category here worth booking with an outfitter rather than arranging independently, since routes are not signposted for casual scrambling and the anchors are not maintained to a public standard the way a commercial climbing gym’s would be.
