Da Nang: Where to Stay

Da Nang is spread out, the beach strip, the riverfront, and Son Tra read as genuinely separate bases rather than neighborhoods you can casually walk between, so where you stay shapes your trip more than in a compact old-town destination.
My Khe/My An beach strip, including An Thuong
This is the easiest first-timer choice: the beach itself, plus An Thuong just back from the sand, a walkable grid of cafes, bars, and restaurants with a heavy expat presence. It’s described consistently as tourist-friendly, well-lit, and safe. Mid-range rooms a block or two off the beachfront here run roughly $30-70 a night in shoulder season (verify, this shifts seasonally). If you’re unsure where to base yourself, this is the default answer.
Han River/Hai Chau, the city-center option
The riverfront puts you closer to the urban energy: the Dragon Bridge, with its weekend fire-and-water show, the night market, and the highest concentration of local restaurants, bars, and rooftop lounges. It’s roughly 5-10 minutes’ drive from the beach, a real trade-off if you want nightlife and city buzz over beachfront quiet, and it’s the base that makes the most sense if you’re visiting during the DIFF fireworks festival, since hotels here sell out fastest.
Son Tra, for quiet and seclusion
The Son Tra side of the peninsula holds a cluster of large resorts on secluded stretches of coast, best suited to honeymoons, anniversaries, or anyone prioritizing resort seclusion over walkable nightlife. The InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort is the well-documented benchmark property here, built into the hillside with its own private beach.
Near the airport
Only worth booking for a very early or late flight transit night, not as a base for the trip itself. Da Nang’s airport is unusually central, 3-5km from downtown, so even this option isn’t far from the rest of the city if plans change.
Named properties worth knowing
Furama Resort Danang and the adjacent Pullman Danang Beach Resort are established beachfront resorts on My Khe/Non Nuoc with multiple pools. Hyatt Regency Danang is a large, family-oriented compound with a private beach and kids’ club. Sheraton Grand Danang and Premier Village Danang round out the family-resort options in the Son Tra and southern-beach cluster. For the An Thuong/My Khe walkable strip specifically, it’s usually smarter to book by area and price band rather than a named small boutique hotel, since that part of the market turns over fast.
