A palace tour holds a child’s attention for about twenty minutes, so a Marrakech family day works better built around water, animals and a short ride than a checklist of monuments.
Oasiria Water Park
Open seasonally from early April to the start of November, 10am-6pm daily, with 11 slides across 15 attractions and 8 pools. Adult admission runs 240 MAD in April and 300 MAD from May through October, child admission roughly 160-200 MAD depending on the month, with a shuttle included. Check current Oasiria opening dates before building a day around it outside season.
La Perle aux Oiseaux
A working animal rescue sanctuary on the city’s outskirts, roughly three hectares and home to around 600 rescued animals, birds, small mammals and reptiles among them, run by a husband-and-wife team with an educational, rescue-first framing. See current visitor information before you go.
ANIMA Garden
A currently operating sculpture-and-botanical garden in the Ourika Valley, about 30km out, created by Austrian artist André Heller across three hectares with Atlas Mountain views: landscaped grounds, contemporary sculpture, exotic planting, and a resident tortoise among its more notable wildlife. Confirm current ANIMA Garden details directly.
A calèche ride, at a fixed stand
Horse-drawn carriages queue at fixed public points near the Koutoubia and the Majorelle Garden rather than operating as named, individually branded businesses booked ahead. Agree the fare before boarding: roughly 120-180 MAD for a short 30-60 minute loop past Bahia Palace or the gardens, and 200-300 MAD for a longer circuit, a gentle, kid-friendly pace either way.
Camel rides in the Palmeraie
A short, close-in ride through the palm groves just outside the city, genuinely different from a multi-day Sahara camel trek. The Palmeraie is a palm oasis, not sand dunes, so it’s a gentle ride rather than a desert crossing, usually 30 to 60 minutes and an easy add-on rather than a full excursion.
Verdict: pair Oasiria with a rest day in peak summer heat, and treat La Perle aux Oiseaux and ANIMA Garden as one half-day toward Ourika rather than two separate outings.
