Guided Tours From Kasane and Kazungula
Guided tours around Kazungula fall into five groups: a Chobe safari, a river cruise, a Victoria Falls tour, a Livingstone Island visit and a boat transfer to Impalila Island. Most start from Kasane in Botswana, about 8 km west of the Kazungula Bridge. Operators sell these as set products, so the useful questions are which country you will be in, whether park fees are included and how long the border takes.
Guided safari in Chobe National Park
A guided drive enters Chobe National Park through Sedudu Gate, in Botswana. Afternoon drives commonly run from about 3:00 to 6:00 pm. The park holds one of Africa’s largest elephant concentrations, and lion, leopard and buffalo are regular sightings. Rhino are essentially absent, so a tour that promises the Big Five is overselling. The park fee is separate from the guide in some packages and included in others. It is about BWP 270 per adult per day from April 2026, with children aged 8 to 17 at about BWP 135 and under 8 free. Confirm figures with the Department of Wildlife and National Parks.
River cruise from Kasane
Cruises on the Chobe River last about three hours. A half-day cruise is listed from about US$94 to US$99 per person, and packages with hotel pickup start around US$166. Quote these as a guide only and ask whether the park fee is in the price. Morning departures often leave around 9:00 to 9:30, and late-afternoon trips suit photographers.
Day tour to Victoria Falls
Tour operators run Kasane to Victoria Falls day tours covering 80 to 90 km, about one and a half to two hours each way once the border is included. Because of the border, take your passport and check which side of the Falls the tour visits. The Zambian side is Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park, and the Zimbabwean side is reached through the town of Victoria Falls.
Livingstone Island and Devil’s Pool
This Zambian tour is seasonal. Swimming at Devil’s Pool is usually possible from about mid-August to mid-January, depending on river level. A guide is compulsory, and when the pool is shut the island tours can still run, with operators offering Angel’s Pool instead.
Impalila Island boat transfer
Boats cross from Kasane to Impalila Island in Namibia in about 15 minutes. Namibian immigration is handled at Kasane, so keep your passport with you. The island is known for birding, and operator itineraries mention Pel’s fishing owl and African finfoot.
Entry rules that affect tours
UK passport holders need no visa for 90 days in Zambia or Botswana. The KAZA UniVisa costs US$50, lasts 30 days and covers day trips to Botswana through Kazungula, but only for nationalities that need a Zambian visa. It does not cover an overnight in Botswana or onward travel to Namibia. Passports need to be valid for six months, with two blank pages for Zambia and three for Botswana. Check the current application process before you go.
