Gothenburg Bus Tours That Really Exist

Some Scandinavian cities have no real bus sightseeing at all. Gothenburg is not one of them, and it has two genuinely different options rather than one.
The classic hop-on hop-off
Stromma’s open-top double-deckers run seasonally from April to late October or early November, daily through June to August at every 30 to 60 minutes. The loop covers eight central stops: Stora Teatern and Kungsportsplatsen, Järntorget, Linnéplatsen and Slottsskogen, Haga, Valand and Avenyn, Götaplatsen, Drottningtorget and Central Station, and Brunnsparken. Multilingual audio commentary comes through onboard headphones, and a 24-hour pass runs roughly 260 to 320 SEK, with combo tickets available alongside the Paddan canal boat. A bus that becomes a boat
Ocean Bus Gothenburg is a different kind of tour entirely: a 55-minute, live-guided amphibious vehicle that drives past Avenyn, Poseidon, and Feskekôrka before driving directly into the Göta älv at Sannegårdshamnen with a dramatic splash, then cruising past shipyards as a boat. The guide runs roughly 80 percent English, 20 percent Swedish. Adult tickets run 350 SEK, child (ages 3 to 12) 265 SEK, and children under 3 are not permitted for safety reasons. It departs from Kungsparken, outside Stora Teatern.
A quieter, older option
The Stinsen sightseeing road-train, a rubber-tired tourist trolley departing Gustaf Adolfs Torg in summer, trundles through Haga and the inner moat district at a slower pace than either bus tour, without the audio guide or the splash landing.
The 38 SEK alternative
If a full tour is more than you want, tram 11 runs the same general direction as part of the hop-on hop-off route, continuing all the way from the center through Majorna down to Saltholmen on the coast, for a single standard Västtrafik fare of 38 SEK (in effect since June 9, 2026) rather than a tour ticket.
Before you book
Confirm the season before planning around either the Stromma bus or Ocean Bus; both are seasonal and Ocean Bus in particular fills up on sunny days, described by its own operator as likely to sell out. Pay by card: Sweden runs close to cashless, and the euro is not accepted anywhere.
