Galway Attraction Tours and Boat Cruises
Paid attractions worth planning around
Galway’s best organised attractions are a river cruise in the city and three day-out destinations: Kylemore Abbey in Connemara, the Aran Islands and the Cliffs of Moher in County Clare. Prices are in euro and several change by season, so confirm them with the operator.
Corrib Princess cruise
The Corrib Princess leaves from Woodquay for a guided cruise of about 90 minutes on the River Corrib and Lough Corrib. It does not sail on Mondays. Galway Tourism lists April to October departures at 14:30 and 16:30. Check the operator’s site for the current fare, as published figures vary.
Kylemore Abbey
Kylemore sits near Letterfrack in Connemara, about 80 km from Galway. A single all-day ticket covers the estate: the 1860s castle, the Benedictine abbey grounds, the neo-Gothic church and the 6 acre Victorian walled garden. Galway Tourism lists adult tickets at about €18, seniors €15.50, students €13.50 and a family ticket at €45. Opening hours run roughly 10:00 to 17:00, later in summer. Confirm on the abbey’s own site before you go.
Aran Islands by ferry
Aran Island Ferries sails all year from Rossaveel, about 37 km west of the city, with a crossing to Inis Mór of roughly 40 minutes. A shuttle bus from Victoria Place in Galway connects to the boat. Adult return is €34, students and seniors €29, children aged 5 to 12 €17, and the Galway bus costs €10 return. Bikes are €15 return. See the fare table .
From early April to late September a separate service links Galway City Docks with Inis Mór. The afternoon return leaves Kilronan at 15:30, pauses at the Cliffs of Moher around 16:15 and reaches the docks near 18:00.
Dún Aonghasa
The prehistoric cliff fort on Inis Mór costs €5 for adults, €4 for seniors, €3 for children and students, or €13 for a family. It is a walk of about 1 km uphill over rough rock from the visitor centre. There is no fence at the cliff edge, which drops about 87 m, so stay well back. See Heritage Ireland .
Cliffs of Moher
The visitor experience is in County Clare, 1.5 to 2 hours from Galway. Parking is included. The 2026 gate price is €15 for adults, and booking online is cheaper and tiered by time of day. Hours run 09:00 to 17:00 in winter and 08:00 to 21:00 from May to August. Stay behind the barriers.
Atlantaquaria
Salthill’s aquarium has a family ticket from €36 online for two adults and one child.
