Venice: 7-Day Complete Itinerary
A full week lets you live in Venice rather than tick it off: the core, every sestiere, the islands, and a slow final day among the art most visitors never reach. City-centre first, then out across the lagoon, then back for a quiet close. Prices are 2026 figures, so treat each as verify on site.
Day 1: San Marco and the Rialto
Piazza San Marco before 9am: St Mark’s Basilica on a timed slot (nave free, Pala d’Oro about EUR 5, dress code enforced), then the Doge’s Palace (about EUR 30 to 35) to the Bridge of Sighs. Bacaro lunch, the Rialto market side, a spritz to finish.
Tip: book the first Basilica slot to clear both big sights before midday.
Day 2: Dorsoduro and the Grand Canal
Line 1 down the Grand Canal (EUR 9.50), then Dorsoduro: the Accademia, the Peggy Guggenheim, the Zattere, Campo Santa Margherita.
Tip: buy a 7-day vaporetto pass (about EUR 65) today to cover the whole trip.
Day 3: Cannaregio and the Ghetto
Cannaregio, the Jewish Ghetto (founded 1516), the Strada Nova, and the northern Fondamente at sunset.
Tip: linger over an evening aperitivo here where the crowds thin out.
Day 4: the lagoon islands
Burano, Torcello and Murano from Fondamente Nove; the islands are exempt from the access fee.
Tip: reach Burano before the tour boats for empty canals and the best colour.
Day 5: Castello and San Giorgio
Quieter Castello, the Arsenale and Biennale gardens, then the San Giorgio Maggiore bell-tower view across the Basin.
Tip: time the San Giorgio lift for late-afternoon light.
Day 6: Giudecca and the Lido
Giudecca’s waterfront and skyline view, then the Lido for a flat seafront and a swim or the Alberoni dunes.
Tip: rent a bike at the Lido to cover its length without hurrying.
Day 7: the Frari and San Rocco
Close slowly in San Polo: the Frari church for Titian’s Assumption, then the Scuola Grande di San Rocco (about EUR 10) for its Tintoretto cycle, and a last wander through the back calli.
Tip: leave the afternoon unplanned for a final drift through the quiet corners you liked best.
