Mecca 6 Day Umrah Itinerary

Non-Muslims cannot enter Mecca; this plan is for Muslim travellers performing Umrah. It takes the same 4 days in Mecca as the 4 day itinerary and adds a fuller 2 day stay in Medina rather than a rushed single-day trip, giving more time at Masjid an-Nabawi. Before you travel: a Nusuk Umrah permit and visa confirmed, a MenACWY meningitis vaccination certificate in hand, ihram prepared, a Haram-area hotel booked, and a Haramain train ticket covering both the Jeddah-Mecca and Mecca-Medina legs.
Day 1: Arrival and Umrah
Fly into Jeddah’s King Abdulaziz International Airport, then take the Haramain High-Speed Railway or a pre-booked car into Mecca. Enter ihram at or before the miqat if you have not already, check in, rest, then perform Umrah: tawaf, sa’i, and halq or taqsir.
Day 2: The Grand Mosque, in full
Spend the day at the Masjid al-Haram: pray, perform additional tawaf, drink from the Zamzam well, and take in the scale of a mosque that can hold up to around 3 million worshippers at peak Hajj.
Day 3: Jabal al-Nour and the Cave of Hira
Climb Jabal al-Nour to the Cave of Hira, where the Prophet received the first Qur’anic revelation, around 1,750 steps and one to two hours each way. Go at dawn or late afternoon and carry extra water.
Day 4: Ziyarah and travel to Medina
Visit Jannat al-Mu’alla in the morning, then take the Haramain train to Medina, around two to two and a half hours. Check into your Medina hotel and rest ahead of two full days there.
Day 5: Masjid an-Nabawi and Quba
Spend the day at Masjid an-Nabawi, the Prophet’s Mosque, and visit Quba Mosque, associated with the earliest days of the Prophet’s arrival in Medina after the Hijra. Pay respects at Jannat al-Baqi, the cemetery holding many of his family and companions.
Day 6: A final Medina morning, then departure
Use the morning for a last visit to Masjid an-Nabawi, then take the Haramain train back to Jeddah, or depart from Medina’s own airport if your booking allows it, building in real buffer time for checkpoints and queues.

Book Medina lodging separately from your Mecca hotel well ahead of time; the two cities’ room availability does not move together, and a Medina room can sell out even when Mecca still has space.
