Non-Muslims cannot enter Mecca; this is a plan for Muslim travellers performing Umrah, not a general tourist guide. Four days gives you room to breathe after the 3 day plan , adding a ziyarah visit and an unhurried rest day. If you want to pair this with Medina, look at the 5 day itinerary instead.
Before you travel: a Nusuk Umrah permit and visa confirmed, a MenACWY meningitis vaccination certificate in hand, ihram prepared, a Haram-area hotel booked, and a Haramain train ticket for the Jeddah-Mecca leg.
Day 1: Arrival and Umrah
Fly into Jeddah’s King Abdulaziz International Airport, then take the Haramain High-Speed Railway or a pre-booked car into Mecca, roughly an hour to ninety minutes. Enter ihram at or before the miqat if you have not already. Once checked in and rested, perform Umrah: tawaf, sa’i between Safa and Marwa, then halq or taqsir. Most pilgrims complete the sequence within a few hours of arriving.
Day 2: The Grand Mosque, in full
Spend today at the Masjid al-Haram without a packed agenda: pray, perform additional tawaf if you wish, drink from the Zamzam well, and simply take in the scale of the mosque, which can hold up to around 3 million worshippers at peak Hajj. Halal food courts and eateries ring the Haram and the Abraj Al-Bait complex for meals between prayers.
Day 3: Jabal al-Nour and the Cave of Hira
Climb Jabal al-Nour to the Cave of Hira, where the Prophet received the first Qur’anic revelation. The climb is around 1,750 steps and takes one to two hours each way on hot, uneven ground, so go at dawn or late afternoon, carry extra water, and skip it if you have any mobility concerns.
Day 4: Jannat al-Mu’alla, rest, and departure
Use your last morning for a quieter ziyarah at Jannat al-Mu’alla, the cemetery where Khadijah bint Khuwaylid, the Prophet’s first wife, is buried; it is a low-effort, reflective stop after the previous day’s climb. Spend the rest of the day resting, with a final visit to the Haram if energy allows, before transferring back to Jeddah with real buffer time for checkpoints and airport queues.
Four days at a glance

| 3 | The Cave of Hira climb | Jabal al-Nour |
| 4 | Ziyarah, rest, and departure | Jannat al-Mu’alla, Jeddah airport |

Do not stack the Hira climb and a long travel day back to back; give yourself the rest day in between, since the climb is more demanding in Mecca’s heat than it looks on paper.
