Day 1: Railay by Longtail, Then Ao Nang’s Night Market

Once you land, split the day one of two ways. Climbers get 700-plus bolted routes across Railay and neighboring Ton Sai, mostly steep and genuinely hard rather than beginner-friendly, though guided taster sessions and gear rental are widely available on site. Day 2: One Island Day Trip (4 Islands or Hong, Not Both)

Two days is not enough for both island tours, so pick one. The 4 Islands trip covers Chicken Island, Koh Poda, the Tup Island sandbar, and a stop at Phra Nang beach by boat. The Hong Islands trip covers a separate lagoon-and-cliff cluster near Ao Thalane, usually paired with mangrove kayaking. They run from different piers and are not two names for the same trip.

If an operator tries to route you past Phi Phi’s Maya Bay on the same day, know what you are actually being sold. Maya Bay reopened in January 2022 under a restricted-access model: boats no longer enter the bay itself, swimming off the main beach is banned, and visits are capped and time-limited through online ticketing. It is not still closed, but Phi Phi sits far enough out (40 to 50 minutes by speedboat, 1.5 to 2 hours by ferry from Ao Nang) that squeezing it into this trip means more time on the water than on the beach. Where should you actually base yourself for two days?
