Five days is our 4-day itinerary plus one slower day for Ram Bagh and a proper Kesar Da Dhaba dinner, enough to see the full city rather than the highlights alone, without adding a day trip that needs its own dedicated logistics.

Know these before you go
- Confirm Wagah’s current status before day 3, and have Durgiana Temple ready as the honest alternative.
- Kesar Da Dhaba, running since 1916, gets a genuine queue at dinner; go with an appetite and low expectations for English on the menu.
- Check hotel rates in Amritsar : five nights makes the old city’s SGPC-run pilgrim sarais worth considering for at least part of the stay.
Day 1: Golden Temple and the old city
Morning: Check in near the Golden Temple. Cover your head, shoes off at the free cloakroom, walk the marble parikrama around the Amrit Sarovar.
Afternoon: The Langar Hall, free, and the Akal Takht.
Evening: The temple lit after dark, then dinner in the old city.
Day 2: Jallianwala Bagh and the Partition Museum
Morning: Jallianwala Bagh, free entry, the preserved bullet-marked walls and Martyrs’ Well.
Midday: The Partition Museum, token entry (verify current fee), 14 galleries in the old Town Hall.
Afternoon: Hall Bazaar shopping, bargaining expected.
Day 3: Wagah-Attari, or Durgiana Temple
Late afternoon: Wagah, roughly 28-32km west, only if current status confirms the ceremony is running; arrive 90 minutes early, bring photo ID. If it isn’t running, Durgiana Temple’s own tank and silver doors instead, free entry.
Day 4: Gobindgarh Fort and Ram Bagh
Afternoon-evening: Gobindgarh Fort, built 1760, reopened 2017 as a heritage park, the 7D show and evening projection display on its own walls.
Day 5: the slower day, and Kesar Da Dhaba
Morning: Whichever of Durgiana Temple or a deeper look at Ram Bagh’s Mughal-style garden and Ranjit Singh Museum you haven’t done yet, no rush.
Afternoon: Free time in the old city, or one more visit to the Golden Temple at a quiet hour.
Evening: Dinner at Kesar Da Dhaba near Chowk Passian, running since 1916, dal makhani and phirni in earthen bowls; a meal for two runs roughly 400-700 INR. Go at proper dinner time rather than a rushed lunch stop.
Is 5 days enough for Amritsar?
