6 Days: Helsinki, No Day Trips
Six days keeps the 5-day spine intact, Senate Square through Seurasaari, and adds a sixth day for a second art museum plus Katajanokka and Töölö, the two neighborhoods the first five days walk past without stopping. Still no Porvoo, no Tallinn ferry, both live in our Helsinki day-trips guide . Want the full week? The 7-day plan adds a finale day.

Day 4: Kallio, Hakaniemi Market, second sauna

Day 5: Seurasaari and the Allas Sea Pool
Seurasaari Open-Air Museum in the morning, EUR 10, then the Allas Sea Pool, EUR 18 weekday.
Day 6: A second art museum, Katajanokka, and Töölö
Is a second museum actually worth it, or does it just repeat day three?
It’s worth it precisely because it doesn’t repeat day three. Whichever of Ateneum, Kiasma or HAM you skipped earlier covers genuinely different ground, historical Finnish painting versus contemporary art versus city-commissioned work, and by day six you’ve earned the context to appreciate the contrast rather than treating it as more of the same.
Pair the museum with Katajanokka, the peninsula east of Market Square, Art Nouveau apartment blocks and the Uspenski Cathedral, widely described as the largest Orthodox cathedral in Western Europe, free to enter and a genuine contrast to the Lutheran Cathedral from day one. Finish in Töölö, home to Finlandia Hall and the Olympic Stadium, both a short walk from Temppeliaukio if you want to revisit it.
Six days in, is the sauna habit still worth keeping up?
Yes, if your legs are tired of walking. A third sauna session, Allas Sea Pool again or a walk-up slot at whichever of Löyly or Kotiharjun has room, is a legitimate way to close out a museum-and-church-heavy day rather than another restaurant crawl. It’s also cheaper than a spa day would cost anywhere else in the Nordics.
Book Ateneum or Kiasma tickets online rather than at the door; both run a couple of euros cheaper that way, EUR 21 online against EUR 23 at the door.
