Two of them carry real weight and reward the time you give them; the other two are pleasant, brief, and worth knowing not to over-plan around. The Sri Siva Subramaniya Swami Temple in Nadi is the largest Hindu temple complex in the Southern Hemisphere, and the Dravidian gopuram architecture, hand-carved stone statues of Lord Murugan, Ganesha, and Shiva, and hand-painted ceiling frescoes by artisans brought from Tamil Nadu genuinely justify the reputation.

Most “top things to do in Viti Levu” lists give seven activities equal billing and the same three sentences each, which is exactly backwards. Two of these are worth building a whole day around, three are solid half-days, and two are the kind of thing you fit in on the way to somewhere else. Worth a full day, no argument: the Beqa Lagoon shark dive off Pacific Harbour puts certified divers among bull sharks, tiger sharks, and several other species in a cageless marine reserve, and it is the one Viti Levu activity that genuinely earns its international reputation.
