Al Olaya, the Default Base
Central, walkable to Kingdom Centre and Al Faisaliyah, and on a direct Blue Line stop, which matters if you’re not renting a car. The Four Seasons at Kingdom Centre sits inside the tower itself and is the marquee splurge pick here, genuinely convenient for the Sky Bridge and Olaya’s restaurants without a taxi.
The Diplomatic Quarter, for Green and Quiet
Leafier and quieter than Olaya, with fewer hotels inside it but real parks to walk. Ritz-Carlton Riyadh is the name to know here, and Fairmont Riyadh covers the same general area. Budget a taxi or Careem for most trips in, since it’s set back from the old city.
KAFD, for the Architecture
The newest base, inside the King Abdullah Financial District’s Zaha Hadid-designed towers. It’s a direct Blue Line stop and a strong pick if modern Riyadh is the draw, though it’s further from Masmak and Souq Al Zal than Olaya is.
Diriyah, for Heritage Luxury

The older, more local district, and the realistic budget option if Olaya’s rates are out of range. Don’t expect the polish of the newer neighborhoods, but it’s a genuine base rather than a compromise.
