Tel Aviv Museums and Landmarks Guide
Travel advice. Conditions in Israel can change at short notice, with missile or drone alerts and flight disruption among the risks. Read your own government’s current travel advice before booking, and again before you leave. The UK page, FCDO advice on Israel , also covers shelter guidance: a protected room or communal shelter is best, and a windowless stairwell is the fallback.
Tel Aviv’s main museums sit in two clusters. The Tel Aviv Museum of Art is central, while the Eretz Israel Museum, the ANU Museum of the Jewish People and the Steinhardt natural history museum are in the north, the last two on the Tel Aviv University campus. Old Jaffa has a smaller museum with a sea view. All prices are in shekels (₪).
Tel Aviv Museum of Art
The museum is at 27 Shaul HaMelech Boulevard and holds modern, contemporary and Israeli art. It is closed on Sundays. Hours are Monday and Wednesday 10:00 to 18:00, Tuesday and Thursday 10:00 to 21:00, Friday 10:00 to 14:00 and Saturday 10:00 to 18:00, with last entry an hour before closing. A regular ticket costs ₪55, students pay ₪45, and seniors and visitors with disabilities pay ₪27. Children and young people up to 18 enter free, and so do members and soldiers. The Eyal Ofer Pavilion exhibition is free. During the current renovation work the entrance is through the Herta and Paul Amir Building. Details are on the museum site .
Eretz Israel Museum
Found at 2 Haim Levanon Street in Ramat Aviv, the museum is built around the Tel Qasile excavation, and it covers archaeology, ethnography and crafts. It is closed on Sundays, open Monday to Wednesday 10:00 to 16:00, Thursday 10:00 to 20:00, Friday 10:00 to 14:00 and Saturday 10:00 to 16:00. The park around the museum is free to enter, but exhibitions, the planetarium and workshops are paid. Current details: eretzmuseum.org.il .
ANU Museum of the Jewish People
ANU, which reopened in 2021 under this name after a rebuild of the former Beit Hatfutsot, stands on the Tel Aviv University campus on Klausner Street. It is in the north of the city, far from Rothschild Boulevard. Bring a passport or other photo ID. Adult tickets have been quoted at about ₪52 to ₪54, with hours around 10:00 to 17:00 and a later close on Thursday, so confirm both with the museum.
Steinhardt Museum of Natural History
At 12 Klausner Street, on the same campus, the museum sells tickets online and in advance only, so book before you arrive. Check smnh.tau.ac.il for dates and prices.
Ilana Goor Museum
This private museum sits in Old Jaffa on a hill by the sea. Hours are Sunday to Thursday 10:00 to 16:00, Friday 10:00 to 14:00 and Saturday 10:00 to 16:00, and the Friday guided tour is currently paused. Check ticket prices on the museum site .
Independence Hall
Dizengoff House at 16 Rothschild Boulevard is where the Declaration of Independence was read in 1948. It makes a good stop on a Rothschild Boulevard walk, and you should check the museum’s current visitor arrangements.
Practical notes
Museums open on Saturday while markets close, so a Saturday is a good museum day. Check holiday closures before a trip in autumn or spring. Each site sells its own tickets.
