Naples Attractions That Need Booking
Book the Veiled Christ first
Of all the attractions in Naples, one has the least slack: the Cappella Sansevero, the small private museum on Via Francesco de Sanctis 19/21 that houses Giuseppe Sanmartino’s Veiled Christ. The statue is here, not in the Duomo, and every visit is booked in advance. Tickets are EUR12 for adults, EUR8 for ages 18 to 26 and EUR6 for ages 10 to 17. It opens 9:00 to 19:00 and is closed on Tuesdays. Slots open 60 days ahead, with extra tickets released two days before the date. Arrive early so the staff can admit you at your time, because late arrivals are not guaranteed entry. The basement holds the anatomical machines, which are worth the same slot. Reserve through the Cappella Sansevero site .
Vesuvius has no ticket window
At the Gran Cono there is no booth. Tickets are sold online only, in timed and named slots, at vesuviopark.vivaticket.it, for EUR10 (EUR8 for under 25s and park residents) plus a small booking fee. Children under 6 are free. Slots are released up to 30 days ahead, and you may enter from 40 minutes before your slot to 100 minutes after. Opening hours change with the season: October is 9:00 to 16:00 and November to February 9:00 to 15:00. When the weather service issues an orange alert the visit is cancelled and refunded automatically. Details sit on the Vesuvius National Park page .
Pompeii: tickets, caps and the train
Pompeii lies 25 km from the city. Take the regular Circumvesuviana from Napoli Garibaldi towards Sorrento and get off at Pompei Scavi-Villa dei Misteri, about 35 minutes and around EUR3.30. The park admits at most 20,000 people a day and tickets carry a name. Prices are EUR20 for the Express route, EUR25 for Pompeii+ with suburban villas and Boscoreale, EUR30 for the 3-day pass and EUR45 for MyPompeii. EU citizens aged 18 to 24 pay EUR2. From 16 March to 14 October there are two entry windows, 9:00 to 13:00 and 13:00 to 17:30. Opening hours in summer are 9:00 to 19:00 with last entry at 17:30, and winter is 9:00 to 17:00 with last entry at 15:30. Check the Pompeii ticket page and pass by anyone offering “skip-the-line” vouchers outside the station.

Underground Naples
Napoli Sotterranea starts at Piazza San Gaetano 69. Tours in English and Italian leave every hour from 10:00 to 18:00, and groups smaller than 10 do not book. The route goes down 136 steps, about 40 metres, to Greek-Roman aqueduct cisterns and shelters, takes around 90 minutes, and costs roughly EUR12 to EUR15. It is a separate attraction from the Toledo metro station with its blue mosaic ceiling, so one ticket does not cover both. See the Napoli Sotterranea schedule .
Royal Naples
The Teatro di San Carlo, opened in 1737, offers guided visits of its gilded six-tier hall, and the Royal Palace on Piazza del Plebiscito shows the Bourbon apartments and the marble staircase. Opera tickets and tour slots are listed on the Teatro di San Carlo site .
Timing tips
- Pair the Sansevero slot with the MANN, which opens 9:00 to 19:30 and costs EUR20. Both close on Tuesdays.
- The first Sunday of the month is free at MANN, Pompeii and Herculaneum, so expect queues.
- Sleeveless tops and short shorts are turned away at the Duomo and Santa Chiara.
