Lake Sevan Guided Tours and Day Packages
What Guided Sightseeing Looks Like Here
Sevan has no local sightseeing network and no standalone ticketed attraction tours. Guided visits come as part of day packages sold from Yerevan. The lake’s sights are few and spread along the shore, so a package is mainly a way to get a driver, a route and some commentary in one booking.
Day Packages from Yerevan
Listings for Sevan day tours run 8 to 11 hours. Two combinations are common:
- Sevan with Hayravank and Noratus. Sevanavank on the peninsula, Hayravank monastery on its rock above the water, then the khachkar field at Noratus on the south-west side of the lake.
- Sevan with Dilijan. Sevanavank plus the forest town of Dilijan, usually with Haghartsin, Goshavank and Parz Lake. A private version from Yerevan has been listed from about 44,512 AMD for a 10 to 11 hour day, so treat that as a starting point and compare quotes.
Operators such as Hyur Service, Armenia Discovery and One Way Tour list Sevan itineraries. Ask what is included: entry is free at the main sights, but boat rides and meals are often extra.
Food-Focused Tours
Gastro itineraries stop at Tsaghkunk Restaurant and Glkhatun, in Tsaghkunk village about 7 km north-west of Sevan, where a tonir lavash baking demonstration is part of the visit. These are sold as operator packages rather than as a separate booking, so the price depends on the tour.
Guides at Noratus
Noratus Cemetery is a walk-around site, and informal local guides are often on hand to explain the carvings. Agree any fee in advance. The cemetery holds several hundred to almost a thousand khachkars over about 7 ha, with the oldest from the late 10th century. Read more: Sightseeing around Sevan .
Lchashen and the Museum in Yerevan
Lchashen, a Bronze Age fortress and burial ground a few kilometres south-west of Sevan town, is mostly bare ruins with little signage. The famous wooden wagons from its tombs, dated to the 15th and 14th centuries BC, are displayed in the History Museum of Armenia in Yerevan, which makes a good companion stop before or after a lake day.
Tsaghkadzor Combinations
Some private tours pair Sevan with Tsaghkadzor, about 22 to 25 km by road, for Kecharis monastery and the chairlift. Tsaghkadzor is its own stop in Kotayk Province, so add time for it.
Booking Tips
- Choose the shorter Hayravank and Noratus loop if you want to stay beside the lake; choose Dilijan if you prefer forest scenery.
- Dress for altitude and wind, with a layer even in summer, and bring water shoes if the tour includes a beach stop.
- Confirm the pick-up point and the return time before you pay.
- Park information for the lake is on sevanpark.am .
