Jordanian social life runs on shared platters, and Amman gives a group of travelers a genuine way into that rather than a staged version of it. The trick is picking activities built for a group in the first place, not solo attractions padded out for six people.
Cook a feast together at Beit Sitti

Share a Mansaf platter properly
Mansaf, Jordan’s national dish, is meant to be eaten from one communal tray: bone-in lamb slow-cooked in fermented goat-milk yogurt (jameed), served over turmeric rice with toasted almonds and pine nuts, traditionally rolled into bite-sized balls by hand. Al-Quds Restaurant, running downtown since 1966, and Jerusalem Restaurant nearby are the two long-standing group venues for it, with Sufra on Rainbow Street as a more polished alternative in a restored 1930s villa.
Shisha, backgammon, and a slower evening
Rainbow Street and Jabal Luwebdeh’s open-air terraces (Books@Cafe, Shams El Balad, Jafra Cafe) are built for groups who want to sit for two hours over mint tea, a shared waterpipe, and a running backgammon game rather than move from stop to stop.
The desert castles, split by group

Getting a group there and back
