A Couple's Day and Night in Vilnius

Castle Hill at golden hour
Gediminas’ Tower sits atop Castle Hill, reached by funicular or a short climb, and its observation deck gives a full 360-degree view over the Old Town’s terracotta roofs and the modern skyline across the river. A quiet walk to the Three Crosses

An evening at the opera or ballet
The Lithuanian National Opera and Ballet Theatre, a 984-seat house on the Neris riverbank, runs a full opera and ballet season and is worth building an evening around if either of you likes dressing up for a show. The theatre’s own site has the current calendar; reservations need at least two weeks’ notice, so this is one to book before you land rather than the morning of.
Trakai, as its own day
Trakai’s island castle sits 28km west of Vilnius, close enough for a direct train in about 30 minutes, and a private wooden rowboat rented on Lake Galvė to circle the fortress at sunset is the actual romantic move here, not the castle interior itself. What this trip is not
Vilnius has no beach and no seaside promenade of its own; the Baltic coast at Klaipėda is a genuine 300km away, a separate multi-day trip rather than something to squeeze in. If a coastal evening walk is the picture in your head, this is the wrong city for it, and that is worth knowing before you land rather than after.

Castle Hill at sunset and the Trakai day trip are the two experiences that actually justify planning a couple’s trip around Vilnius specifically; the opera is worth it only if your dates line up with the season and you book ahead, since walk-up tickets are rare with two weeks’ minimum notice on reservations.
