Wroclaw 6 Day Itinerary (No Traps)

Six days is our 5-day itinerary (the city core, Książ Castle with Świdnica, and Karkonosze with Karpacz) with a sixth day added for the Table Mountains, further out and a genuinely different landscape from anything else on this list. Prefer a shorter trip? Our 4-day itinerary covers the core plus one day trip only.

Know before you go
- Pay in złoty, not euros, and decline any currency-conversion prompt.
- Validate every tram and bus ticket on board (150 zł fine otherwise).
- The Table Mountains day is the longest reach of the six; don’t combine it with anything else.
- Check hotel rates in Wrocław for the full week; compare weekly deals against nightly ones.
Day 1: Rynek and Ostrów Tumski
Morning: The Rynek, one of Europe’s largest medieval squares, laid out 1214-1232. The Gothic Old Town Hall took roughly 250 years to build; Piwnica Świdnicka beneath it is billed as one of Europe’s oldest restaurants (confirm current status).
Afternoon: Plac Solny, the Hansel and Gretel houses, and the start of the dwarf hunt. A milk bar meal runs roughly 10-25 zł.
Evening: Ostrów Tumski at dusk, where a lamplighter still lights the gas street lamps by hand.
Day 2: Centennial Hall’s whole complex
Morning: Centennial Hall, UNESCO-listed since 2006, Max Berg’s 1911-13 dome, plus the Four Domes Pavilion’s contemporary art next door.
Afternoon: The Japanese Garden (seasonal, roughly April-October) and Wrocław Zoo’s Afrykarium wing.
Evening: Dinner in the Four Denominations District.
Day 3: The Panorama and the university district
Morning: Panorama Racławicka, the 1894 cyclorama that came to Wrocław from Lwów and stayed hidden for decades under communism before reopening in 1985.
Afternoon: The University of Wrocław, founded 1702, the Baroque Aula Leopoldina, and the Mathematical Tower (confirm current hours). Nadodrze for a quieter contrast.
Evening: A relaxed dinner.
Day 4: Książ Castle and the Świdnica Church of Peace
Morning: Książ Castle, roughly 70km southwest near Wałbrzych, Poland’s third-largest castle, with Project Riese’s disputed WWII tunnels beneath it. Treat the “gold train” legend as unconfirmed, not fact.
Afternoon: Świdnica’s Church of Peace, a UNESCO site since 2001, a 17th-century timber-framed Lutheran church built without a steeple.
Evening: Back in Wrocław for a relaxed dinner.
Day 5: Karkonosze and Karpacz
Morning: Roughly 1.5 to 2 hours southwest, Śnieżka, 1,603m, straddles the Polish-Czech border. A chairlift from Karpacz climbs to Kopa (1,377m).
Afternoon: Karpacz’s Wang Temple, a 12th-century Norwegian stave church relocated here in the 19th century (confirm current hours).
Evening: The return can run long on busy weekends; keep the evening unplanned.
Day 6: The Table Mountains
Morning: Szczeliniec Wielki, near Kudowa-Zdrój, the range’s highest point at 919m, Cretaceous sandstone eroded into rock labyrinths and viewing terraces, one formation nicknamed the Great-Grandfather’s Armchair.
Afternoon: The ascent is a roughly 680-step stone stairway from the village of Karłów, first marked as a tourist route around 1790, within Stołowe Mountains National Park.
Evening: This is the furthest reach of the week; a quiet last dinner back in Wrocław rather than a late night out.
Which 6-day split actually works?
Three city days plus three day trips, Książ and Świdnica together, Karkonosze with Karpacz, and the Table Mountains on their own, is a genuine week’s worth of Wrocław and Lower Silesia rather than a city trip padded thin. If a full week feels like too much, our 5-day itinerary drops the Table Mountains and keeps everything else.
