Getting There
- By Car: Geghard is easily accessible by car. You can rent a car in Yerevan or take a taxi. The journey takes approximately 45 minutes to an hour.
- By Public Transport: Regular minivans (marshrutkas) run from Yerevan’s Khachik Abovyan street to Garni, where you can switch to another marshrutka that will take you to Geghard. The total journey takes about 1.5 hours.

- Geghard Monastery: The main attraction is the Geghard Monastery complex, which includes numerous churches, tombstones, and khachkars (cross-stones). The monastery is carved out of a single rock and offers breathtaking views of the Azat River valley.
- Symphony of Stones: Near the monastery, you can find the “Symphony of Stones,” a unique geological formation made of basalt columns.
- Garni Temple: On your way back to Yerevan, you may want to stop by Garni Temple, an ancient Greco-Roman temple dedicated to Mithra, the god of the sun.
