Romantic Getaways Negev Desert
Title: Water Activities in the Negev Desert
Overview
The Negev Desert, located in southern Israel, offers a unique blend of desert landscapes and rich history. While it is predominantly arid, there are some water-based activities you can enjoy during your visit.
Swimming at Eilat’s Red Sea
Located on the northern tip of the Negev Desert, Eilat is a coastal city that borders the Red Sea. Here, you can find several beaches offering swimming opportunities. The coral reefs around Eilat make it an ideal spot for snorkeling and scuba diving.
Kayaking at Timna Park
Timna Valley, located within the Negev Desert, is home to a large oasis. Though not for swimming, you can kayak or canoe in the small lake found here. The park also offers hiking trails and ancient rock carvings for exploration.
Snorkeling at Coral Beach Nature Reserve
About 12 km north of Eilat, Coral Beach Nature Reserve is a great spot for snorkeling. With over 400 different species of fish and 60 varieties of coral, you’ll find plenty to explore under the water.
Note:
Some areas in the Negev Desert may be too far from any significant water bodies. If you find yourself in such an area, it is important to stay hydrated and respect local conservation efforts to preserve this unique desert ecosystem.
