Water Activities in Matabeleland North

Matabeleland North, located in western Zimbabwe, offers a variety of natural wonders, including several scenic locations for water activities. Here’s some useful information to help you plan your aquatic adventures!

Hwange National Park

• Location: Southwestern Matabeleland North
• Water Activities: Boat cruises on the many wetlands within the park, offering chances to see hippos, crocodiles, and a variety of birdlife. Fishing is also possible with a permit.

Lake Kariba

• Location: Border between Matabeleland North and Mashonaland West
• Water Activities: Houseboat safaris, fishing (for bream, tigerfish, vundu, and catfish), water skiing, and jet skiing. Visit the stunning Siamese Gorge for a unique geological experience.

Matetsi Private Game Reserve

• Location: Southeastern Matabeleland North
• Water Activities: Boat cruises along the Sianadzara Channel and Zambezi River, offering sightings of hippos, crocodiles, and various bird species. Fishing is available as well.

Lupane Dam

• Location: Central Matabeleland North

No Water

Unfortunately, some areas in Matabeleland North do not have significant bodies of water suitable for aquatic activities. These regions include the Nalatali National Park and parts of Bubye Valley Conservancy.
