Day Trips from Cannes by Train and Boat
Cannes sits on the coastal rail line, so most day trips need no car. The TER regional trains run all day, and the fares below are single prices for 2026 from the TER Sud route pages. They drop with a Zou card, so check the price when you buy.
Grasse
Grasse is the perfume town in the hills, about 17 to 25 minutes by train. A single ticket costs about €6.70, or about €4.70 with a Zou card, and the TER route page shows times. Fragonard’s historic factory at 20 Boulevard Fragonard gives a free guided visit, and a short paid workshop where you make a perfume costs about €31. Molinard at 60 Boulevard Victor Hugo has a free visit and its Atelier des Parfums, which runs at 11:00, 14:00 and 16:00 daily from about €76. The flower and lavender fields belong to Grasse and its hills, not to Cannes.
Antibes
Antibes is about 10 minutes away for roughly €5, or €3.50 with a Zou card. The Musée Picasso in the Château Grimaldi was listed for 2026 at €12 full price and €8 reduced, with free entry under 18. It closes on Mondays and has a long lunch break from mid-September to mid-June.
Nice and Monaco
Nice takes about 35 minutes for around €9.70, or €6.80 with a Zou card. Monaco is about an hour by train. In Monaco the Prince’s Palace State Apartments open only in season, from late March to mid-October, at €13 for adults, and the Musée Océanographique costs €22.50 printed or about €20.50 online. The Changing of the Guard is at 11:55.
The Lérins Islands
Two islands lie just offshore. Île Sainte-Marguerite is served by Trans Côte d’Azur, Horizon and Riviera Lines, and the crossing takes about 15 minutes. Île Saint-Honorat is served only by Planaria, with a return ticket of €19.50 for an adult online. Both islands are pedestrian. Esterel coast
The red rock of the Massif de l’Esterel is reached by train to Théoule-sur-Mer, Le Trayas or Agay. In summer the prefectures close the massif on high fire-risk days, and in 2026 it was shut from 1 July and on other days to the end of August. Check the prefecture access map on the morning of your walk.
Saint-Tropez
Seasonal boat excursions to the Gulf of Saint-Tropez exist in summer, but timetables and fares vary, so ask the operator before you plan around them.
