Buda Castle District and a Bath
Wander the Castle Hill Funicular Railway’s surroundings, Matthias Church, Fisherman’s Bastion, and the Buda Palace on a morning walk, then soak at Rudas or Széchenyi in the afternoon; Gellért has been closed since October 2025 and isn’t due back before late 2028. Before You Go

A Note on Weather
Balaton and the outdoor legs of the Danube Bend both depend on clear weather more than the Castle Hill walk does; check the forecast the morning of rather than the night before, since Hungarian summer afternoons can turn from clear to stormy quickly. Aquaworld runs mostly indoors, which makes it the one entry on this list that works regardless of the forecast outside, and buses connect Etyek and the Danube Bend towns for less than the train fare, though with a longer ride on both routes.
