Brussels as a Multi-Day Rail Base
Brussels rewards a multi-day trip that stays in one hotel and uses the city as a rail hub, rather than one that packs and unpacks in Ghent or Bruges for a single night. Every Flemish art city on this list is under an hour away by direct intercity train, so a change of address buys almost nothing beyond hotel check-in friction.
Day 1: the Pentagon core
Start at Grand-Place, then Mont des Arts and the Magritte Museum (€13 adult, closed Mondays), follow the Comic Book Route’s murals through the center on foot, and end the day at Brasserie Cantillon in Anderlecht, the last traditional open-coolship lambic brewery in Brussels proper, €15 for a self-guided visit and three tasting pours. Day 2: Flanders art and canals
