Travel advisory: The US advises against all travel to Myanmar. The UK advises against all but essential travel to Mandalay, and against all travel to Sagaing and the districts north of the city. Water and Animal Activities in Mandalay

Mandalay has no wildlife or recreational water attractions that can be recommended. Kayaking, sailing and lake excursions are not offered around the city.

What the area has

• The Irrawaddy River runs beside the city and has long carried cargo and passenger boats, including slow services toward Bagan. Whether any passenger service is running is unconfirmed.
• Taungthaman Lake lies beside U Bein Bridge in Amarapura. Local fishermen and small rowing boats work there, but organised sailing or rental craft have not been verified.
• Inle Lake is in Shan State, a long journey away over mountain roads, and is not an outing from Mandalay.

No animal sanctuary or conservation centre near Mandalay can be confirmed, and venues such as deer parks or elephant camps are not supported by any reliable source. Wildlife encounters are not part of any current travel advice for this area.
