Western Sahara 5-Day Travel Itinerary
Day 1: Dakhla (Boinger)
- Arrival at Dakhla (BOG) airport. Visitors require a visa, which can be obtained upon arrival for many nationalities. Check the latest requirements before travel.
- Check into your hotel and rest after the journey. In the afternoon, visit the local fish market and enjoy fresh seafood for dinner.
- Activities: Explore the Dakhla Bay, kitesurfing or stand-up paddleboarding, bird watching at Oum-Laouali National Park.
- Things to know: Dakhla is a bilingual city, with both Arabic and French spoken. The local currency is the Moroccan Dirham (MAD).

Day 2: Dakhla to Oued Eddahab (Oualad Rhalh)
- Drive from Dakhla to Oued Eddahab, approximately 4 hours by car. Enjoy the scenic drive through the desert landscape.
- Visit the old town of Oualad Rhalh and explore the local market, selling traditional Saharan crafts.
- Activities: Whale watching (seasonal), camel trekking in the desert, stargazing at night.

Day 3: Oued Eddahab to Aousserd (Erg El Djedid)
- Drive from Oued Eddahab to Aousserd, approximately 6 hours by 4x4 vehicle. Cross the vast Saharan dunes en route.
- Arrive at Erg El Djedid, also known as the Grand Erg Oriental. Spend the night in a desert camp.
- Activities: Sandboarding, quad biking, camel riding, and stargazing.
- Things to know: Bring enough water, sun protection, and warm clothing for the cool desert nights.

Day 4: Aousserd to Boujdour
- Drive from Aousserd to Boujdour, approximately 5 hours by 4x4 vehicle. Pass through various dune landscapes and oases along the way.
- Explore Boujdour’s old town, visit the local market, and learn about the Sahrawi culture.
- Activities: Relax at the beach, explore the nearby oasis of Tifariti.
- Things to know: Be respectful when visiting cultural sites and always ask permission before taking photos.
- Transportation: Continue with a 4x4 vehicle or join organized tours for transportation.
Day 5: Boujdour to Zouerat (Mauritania border), departure
- Drive from Boujdour to the Mauritania border at Zouerat, approximately 3 hours by 4x4 vehicle.
- Departure from Zouerat airport. Keep in mind that visa requirements may vary for entering Mauritania, so check before travel.
- Transportation: Continue with a 4x4 vehicle or arrange transportation to the border and onward to your departure airport.
