Vienna Austria 5 Day Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival & Historic Vienna

  • Morning: Check-in at your hotel (recommended: Hotel Sans Souci Kempinski or Palais Hansen Kempinski). Familiarize yourself with the city and take a leisurely walk around the neighborhood.

  • Afternoon: Visit St. Stephen’s Cathedral (Stephansdom), one of Vienna’s most iconic landmarks. Explore the beautiful interior, climb up to the tower for a stunning view of the city.

  • Evening: Stroll along Graben and Kohlmarkt streets, known for their high-end shopping. Have dinner at Zum Wipf und Stock (one of Vienna’s oldest taverns).

  • Transportation: Vienna Card provides unlimited travel on public transportation, as well as discounts on various attractions.

Day 2: Museums & Art

  • Morning: Visit the Museum of Art History (Kunsthistorisches Museum) and the Museum of Natural History (Naturhistorisches Museum).

  • Afternoon: Explore the Belvedere Palace, home to Austrian art from the Middle Ages to the present day. Don’t miss Gustav Klimt’s “The Kiss.”

  • Evening: Dine at Plachutta, known for its traditional Viennese cuisine, especially Tafelspitz (boiled beef).

Day 3: Schönbrunn Palace & Naschmarkt

  • Morning: Spend the morning at Schönbrunn Palace. Explore the palace and gardens.

  • Afternoon: Visit the Imperial Furniture Collection in the palace, or take a walk through the Gloriette.

Day 4: Hundertwasser House & Huvek Coffeehouse

  • Morning: Visit the unique Hundertwasser House, an apartment building designed by architect Friedensreich Hundertwasser.

  • Afternoon: Explore the KunstHausWien museum dedicated to Hundertwasser’s works.

  • Evening: Dine at Café Central or Café Sacher for traditional Viennese pastries and coffee.

Day 5: Prater & Departure

  • Morning: Spend your last morning in Vienna at Prater amusement park, home to the famous Giant Ferris Wheel (Riesenrad).

  • Afternoon: Return to your hotel, check out, and prepare for departure.

  • Transportation: Tram 6 or D (depending on the location of Prater) will take you back to the city center.
