Day 1: Arrival & St. Peter’s Square
- Morning: Arrive in Rome (if not already there) and make your way to Vatican City. You can take a taxi, bus, or metro (Line A to Ottaviano – San Pietro - Musei Vaticani).
- Afternoon: Visit St. Peter’s Square and Basilica. admire the stunning architecture, including Bernini’s Baldachin and Michelangelo’s Pieta. Remember to dress appropriately (knees and shoulders covered) as it is a holy site.
- Evening: Stroll around Vatican Gardens (entry requires separate tickets) or rest for the day, depending on your energy level.
Day 2: Sistine Chapel & Vatican Museums
- Morning: Visit the Vatican Museums. Start early to avoid the crowds. Highlights include the Raphael Rooms, Gallery of Maps, and, of course, the Sistine Chapel.
- Afternoon: Spend your afternoon exploring more of the Vatican Museums or take a short walk to Castel Sant’Angelo for a panoramic view of Rome.
Day 3: St. Peter’s Dome & Vatican City Exploration
- Morning: Climb to the Top of St. Peter’s Dome. The climb is challenging but the view is worth it!
- Afternoon: Spend your afternoon exploring other sites in Vatican City such as the Vatican Library, Bell Tower, and the Paul VI Audience Hall.
Day 4: Optional Activities & Departure
- Morning/Afternoon: Consider visiting the Necropolis of St. Peter or the Pope’s summer residence at Castel Gandolfo (both require advance booking).
- Evening: Depart Rome or enjoy some last-minute shopping in Vatican City or Rome before your departure.
