Things to Know:
- The official language is Mongolian. English is spoken in many tourist areas, but it’s useful to learn a few phrases.
- The local currency is the Tugrik (MNT). Credit and debit cards are widely accepted in cities, but cash is necessary for smaller towns and rural areas.

- Tap water is not safe to drink; always use bottled water.
