Uganda 5-Day Travel Itinerary (Markdown Format)
Day 1: Arrival & Explore Kampala
- Arrive at Entebbe International Airport and process your Visa (Ugandan Visa is available on arrival for most nationalities. Check this list for details).
- Transfer to Kampala, Uganda’s vibrant capital city. Visit the Bahai Temple, one of seven Bahá’í Houses of Worship in the world.
- Explore Kampala’s markets like Owino Market and Nakasero Market for local crafts and food.
- Overnight stay at a hotel in Kampala.
Day 2: Mabira Forest & Ssesse Islands
- Morning departure to Mabira Forest, Uganda’s largest surviving tract of tropical forest. Enjoy a guided walk, birdwatching, and primate spotting.
- After lunch, head to the Ssesse Islands on Lake Victoria. Activities include swimming, snorkeling, fishing, and boat rides.
- Overnight stay at a lodge on the Ssesse Islands.
Day 3: Murchison Falls National Park
- Depart early for Murchison Falls National Park, one of Uganda’s most popular destinations.
- Afternoon game drive in search of elephants, lions, giraffes, and various antelope species.
- Overnight stay at a safari lodge near Murchison Falls.
Day 4: Murchison Falls & Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park
- Morning boat trip upstream to the base of Murchison Falls, witnessing the powerful Nile river force its way through a narrow gap in the rocks.
- Afternoon drive to Kibale Forest National Park.
- Overnight stay at a lodge in Kibale.
Day 5: Chimpanzee Tracking & Departure
- Early morning chimpanzee tracking in Kibale Forest, one of the best places in the world to see these primates.
- After lunch, transfer to Kigali International Airport for your departure.
Additional Tips:
- Currency: Ugandan Shilling (UGX) is the official currency. USD and EUR are also widely accepted in some places.
- Vaccinations: Yellow Fever vaccination is required for all travelers over one year old, arriving from yellow fever risk countries. Consult your doctor or a travel clinic about other necessary vaccines.
- Malaria: Uganda is a malarial region. Consider taking antimalarial medication and using insect repellent to prevent mosquito bites.
- Safety: Ugandans are friendly, but exercise caution in crowded areas or when traveling at night.
- Electricity: The electrical supply is mainly 240V AC, with British-style square three-pin plugs predominant. Adapters may be needed for some devices.
