Day 1: Kampala & Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary

  • Start your day in Kampala, the capital city of Uganda. Visit the Bahai Temple, one of the eight Bahá’í Houses of Worship, and explore the bustling Owino Market.
  • In the afternoon, head to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary (approx. 2 hours drive from Kampala). This is the only place in Uganda where you can find rhinos! Remember to book a guided safari walk.
  • Dinner and overnight stay at a lodge near Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary or drive back to Kampala for more options.

Day 2: Murchison Falls National Park

  • Depart early in the morning towards Murchison Falls National Park. It’s about a 5-hour drive, so you might want to break this journey at Masindi Town for lunch.
  • Arrive at the park and embark on an afternoon game drive or boat safari along the Nile River. Both activities offer excellent opportunities to spot wildlife like elephants, lions, hippos, and crocodiles.
  • Overnight stay at a lodge within the park.

Day 3: Murchison Falls & Back to Kampala

  • Spend your morning hiking to the top of Murchison Falls, where you can witness the dramatic scene of water thundering through a narrow gap in the rocks, creating a powerful spray and an awe-inspiring sight.
  • After lunch, begin your journey back to Kampala (approx. 5 hours). If time allows, stop by the Budongo Forest to see the chimpanzees.

Things to Know:

  1. Uganda’s main international airport is Entebbe International Airport.
  2. English is widely spoken in Uganda, making it easier for tourists.
  3. Ugandan Shillings (UGX) is the local currency, but USD and EUR are also accepted in many places.
  4. Tap water is not safe to drink, so stick to bottled water.
  5. Malaria prevention measures are essential, as malaria is prevalent in Uganda.

Transportation:
