Uganda 2 Day Itinerary
Day 1: Exploring Central Uganda
Morning:
- Arrival at Entebbe International Airport (VISA: All nationalities require a visa to enter Uganda. You can obtain an e-Visa online before your trip.)
- Transfer to Kampala, the bustling capital city of Uganda, for breakfast and freshening up.
Activities:
- Visit the Ugandan Museum (Kabaka’s Palace & Bakkongo Cultural Village) to learn about the country’s rich history and culture.
- Take a guided tour of the Kasubi Tombs, a UNESCO World Heritage Site housing four kings of Buganda Kingdom.
- Explore the vibrant markets in Kampala for souvenirs, crafts, and local produce. (Remember to bargain!)
Afternoon:
- Head to Mabira Forest, Uganda’s largest forest and home to over 300 bird species and numerous primates such as chimpanzees.
- Engage in a guided nature walk or canopy walkway tour (optional).
Evening:
- Drive to Jinja, the adventure capital of East Africa, located on the source of the Nile River.
- Dinner at a local restaurant and rest for the night.
Day 2: Adventure in Jinja
Morning:
- Breakfast in Jinja
- White Water Rafting on the Nile (recommended, but can be replaced with a boat tour if preferred)
- Visit the Source of the Nile for stunning views and photo opportunities
Afternoon:
- Bungee Jumping or Kayaking (optional activities for adrenaline junkies)
- Visit the Sezibwa Falls, a sacred site for the Bagisu people with beautiful trails and waterfalls
Evening:
- Return to Kampala for dinner and preparation for your departure the next day.
Things to Know:
- Uganda uses the Ugandan Shilling (UGX) as its official currency. Major credit cards are accepted in hotels, shops, and restaurants but carry some cash for smaller establishments and local markets.
- English is widely spoken in Uganda, making communication with locals easy.
- Tap water is generally not safe to drink, so it’s best to stick to bottled water.
- Be aware of your surroundings, especially in crowded areas and at night.
- Malaria is prevalent in Uganda, so consult a healthcare professional about antimalarial medication before travel.
