Turkmenistan 7-Day Travel Itinerary (Markdown Format)
Day 1: Arrival in Ashgabat
- Arrive at the Ashgabat International Airport.
- Check into your hotel and rest from your journey.
- Visit the Alem Center – the fifth tallest monument in the world, featuring a cone-shaped structure with an observation deck offering panoramic views of Ashgabat.
Things to Know:
- Turkmenistan uses the Manat (TMN) as its currency. It’s advisable to exchange some money at the airport upon arrival.
- The official language is Turkmen, but Russian is widely spoken. English might be limited.
Day 2: Ashgabat Sightseeing
- Explore the Holy Hierarchy Church – a stunning Orthodox church built with white marble.
- Visit the National Museum of Turkmenistan to learn about the rich history and culture of Turkmenistan.
- Stroll around the Neutrality Arch – a symbol of Turkmenistan’s policy of neutrality.
Day 3: Journey to Darvaza (The Door to Hell)
- Depart Ashgabat early in the morning for the Darvaza Gas Crater.
- Explore the crater, also known as the “Door to Hell,” and enjoy a bonfire under the starry night sky.
- Overnight in local yurts or tents.

Day 4: Return to Ashgabat & Visit Kow Ata Underground Lake
- Return to Ashgabat from Darvaza and rest for some time.
- In the afternoon, visit the Kow Ata Underground Lake – a unique natural formation filled with warm mineral water said to have healing properties.
Day 5: Journey to Merv (Mary)
- Depart Ashgabat for Merv (Mary), an ancient city and UNESCO World Heritage Site.
- Explore the ruins of Greco-Buddhist Sites, the Islamic Architectural Complex, and the Mausoleum of Sultan Sanjar.
Things to Know:
- Merv is located approximately 270 km from Ashgabat and can be reached by train or car.
Day 6: Return to Ashgabat & Visit the Avaza Coast
- Return to Ashgabat and in the afternoon, visit the Avaza Coast – a resort town offering beaches, water sports, and entertainment facilities.
- Enjoy a relaxing evening at the beach or explore the local nightlife.
Day 7: Departure
- Spend your last hours in Turkmenistan shopping for souvenirs or relaxing at your hotel before your departure from Ashgabat International Airport.

- All tourists require a visa to enter Turkmenistan. Visas can be obtained through the e-visa system or by applying at your nearest Turkmenistan embassy.
Transportation:
