Timor-Leste 5-Day Travel Itinerary
Day 1: Dili - Explore the Capital City
- Activities: Visit the Cristo Rei Statue for a panoramic view of the city, explore the National Parliament Building and the President’s Palace. Don’t miss the National Museum of East Timor to learn about the country’s history. Stroll around the central market for local produce and crafts.
- Things to Know: The official language is Tetum and Portuguese. English is widely spoken, especially in Dili. The currency is U.S. dollars, but the new East Timorese dollar (USDT) is also accepted.
- Visa Requirements: A 30-day visa on arrival is available for most nationalities. You’ll need a passport valid for at least six months from the date of entry.
- Transportation: Taxis are readily available in Dili. Motorbike taxis, known as “be-motor,” are also common and cheaper.
Day 2: Dili - Maubisse
- Activities: Take a scenic drive to Maubisse through the mountains, stopping at the beautiful Lake Iza and Mirror Lagoon along the way. Visit the traditional market in Maubisse and learn about local culture.
- Things to Know: The roads can be rough and travel time may take longer than expected. It’s best to start early in the morning.

Day 3: Maubisse - Ainaro - Nuwa Mata
