Tashkent, Uzbekistan 5-Day Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival & City Center Exploration
- Morning: Arrive at Tashkent International Airport, get a Sim Card (Uzmobile or Beeline) for internet access.
- Lunch: Visit Choykhona Tihonov for traditional Uzbek cuisine. Try Plov, Shashlik, and Lagman.
- Afternoon:
- Independence Square (Mustakillik Maydoni): A vast city square with beautiful fountains and monuments.
- Amir Timur Square: Admire the impressive statue of Amir Timur, the founder of the Empire that once spanned much of Central Asia.
- Evening: Rest and prepare for tomorrow’s adventures. Dinner can be enjoyed at Tuyapark, a large entertainment complex with several restaurant options.
Day 2: Old City & Museums
- Morning:
- Kukeldash Madrasah: One of the oldest madrasahs in Tashkent, dating back to the 16th century.
- Khast-Imam Complex: Includes Barak Khan Madrasah, Mausoleum of the Islamic scholar Abu Bakr Kaffal Shashi, and the Othman Quran – the world’s 8th oldest Quran manuscript.
- Lunch: Enjoy a meal at Uyghun, located near Kukeldash Madrasah.
- Afternoon:
- Chor-Su Bazaar: Shop for local spices, fruits, traditional Uzbek clothing, and souvenirs.

Day 5: Relaxation & Departure
- Morning: Spend your last hours exploring any missed sights or shopping for souvenirs at Chor-Su Bazaar.
- Lunch: Enjoy a final meal in Tashkent, perhaps returning to one of your favorite restaurants from the trip.
- Afternoon: Prepare for departure and head to Tashkent International Airport for your flight home.
Things to know:
- Uzbekistan is a cash-based society, although major credit cards are accepted in some tourist areas and hotels.
- The official language is Uzbek, but Russian is widely spoken as well. English proficiency varies.
- Tashkent’s weather can be extreme, with very hot summers and cold winters. Pack accordingly.
- Taxis are affordable and readily available, but use licensed companies like Yandex Taxi or Gizlab for peace of mind.
