Tanzania 5-Day Travel Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Dar es Salaam & Transfer to Zanzibar

  • Arrival: Janeway International Airport (DAR) is the primary gateway to Tanzania. Ensure you have a valid passport and check visa requirements (either a tourist visa on arrival or eVisa online).

  • Transfer: Book a flight or ferry ticket to Zanzibar Island, approximately 30 minutes by air or 2 hours by ferry from the mainland. The Stone Town district is an ideal base for exploration.

  • Activities: Visit Jozani Chwaka Bay National Park, explore historical Stone Town, relax at Nungwi Beach, and enjoy Swahili cuisine.

Day 2: Zanzibar Exploration & Spice Tour

  • Morning: Visit Prison Island to see the giant Aldabra tortoises and explore the coral reefs on a snorkeling excursion.

  • Afternoon: Take part in a spice tour, discovering cloves, cinnamon, nutmeg, and other exotic spices that make Zanzibar famous.

Day 3: Transfer to Tarangire National Park

  • Transfer: Fly or drive (approximately 2 hours) to Tarangire National Park, one of Tanzania’s most famous national parks known for its elephant population.

  • Activities: Spend the day on a game drive and spot wildlife like lions, giraffes, zebras, and various bird species. Overnight at a local lodge or campsite.

Day 4: Tarangire National Park & Transfer to Serengeti National Park

  • Morning: Continue your game drive in Tarangire before transferring (approximately 3 hours) to the world-renowned Serengeti National Park.

  • Afternoon: Embark on an afternoon game drive in Serengeti, home to the Great Wildebeest Migration and a vast array of wildlife. Overnight at a local lodge or campsite.

Day 5: Full-day Game Drive in Serengeti National Park & Departure

  • Day: Spend the day exploring Serengeti on a full-day game drive, making the most of your last chance to witness Tanzania’s incredible wildlife.

  • Departure: Transfer back to Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) or Dar es Salaam for your departure flight, carrying with you memories of an unforgettable adventure in Tanzania.
