Taiwan 2-Day Itinerary (Tourist Edition)
๐ฎ Day 1: Taipei City Exploration
- ๐ Morning: Start your day with a traditional Taiwanese breakfast at a local ๆฟคๆตท็่้บต (Tong Hua Beef Noodle) restaurant. Don’t forget to wash it down with a cup of ๅๅก (Kopi).
- ๐ Morning/Afternoon: Visit the Taipei 101 tower, one of the tallest buildings in the world. Take a quick look inside the mall at its base and if you dare, head to the observation deck for stunning views (fee applies).
- ๐ป Afternoon: Head to the nearby Ximending Pedestrian Area, also known as Taipei’s Harajuku, for shopping, street food, and vibrant atmosphere.
- ๐ฏ Afternoon/Evening: Explore the National Palace Museum, home to a vast collection of Chinese artifacts.
- ๐ Evening: Stroll around the Taipei Zoo or Daan Forest Park before enjoying some local street food at Ningxia Night Market.
Things to know:
- Taipei is quite hilly, so comfortable shoes are a must.
- Mandarin and Taiwanese are widely spoken; English proficiency varies.
- Taipei Metro is an efficient way to get around the city.
๐ฐ Day 2: Northern Taiwan Adventure
- ๐ Morning: Catch the High Speed Rail (HSR) to Hualien City (approx. 2hr ride). From there, take a bus or hire a taxi to reach Taroko Gorge.
- ๐๏ธ Morning/Afternoon: Spend your day marveling at Taroko Gorge’s marble cliffs and lush valleys. Don’t miss Shakadang Trail and Swallow Grotto.
- ๐ Afternoon/Evening: If time allows, head to the nearby Hualien Ocean Park for some beach relaxation before catching your return train.
- ๐ Evening: Back in Taipei, enjoy a well-deserved dinner at Raohe Street Night Market, famous for its stinky tofu and fried chicken cutlet.
Visa Requirements:
- Citizens from over 60 countries can enter Taiwan without a visa for stays under 30 days (subject to change, always check the most current information).
- For longer stays or if your country is not on the list, you may need to apply for a tourist visa in advance.
Transportation:
- Taipei Metro and High Speed Rail are convenient ways to travel around Taiwan.

- Consider purchasing an EasyCard for public transportation, which can be topped up and used on the Metro, buses, and even some taxis.
